Dichroic Nightlight
Each nightlight is thoughtfully designed and handcrafted in my shop in Berkeley, CA. This series uses dichroic spectrum glass, which changes color depending on your vantage point. I consider each one an exercise, where color, size, and composition vary purposefully.
Due to the individual nature of each item, please allow a bit of time before shipping. Each object is made to order, and depending on my commission calendar there could be anywhere from 1-3 week turnaround time before it's in the mail. I wanted to create an art object with an accessible price point. Art is exclusionary in many ways, and this is my solution to that concept. They will always be cheaper than an SF parking ticket.
Just like a sketchbook, I use these small night light compositions as an exercise to study color and form that I incorporate into my larger works.
In San Francisco, many of us live in small rented apartments. I wanted to make something miniature and easily transportable.
Stained glass is a timeless, hopeful art form, and I suppose that's why I gravitate towards it. After sitting 50 years dormant and dusty in the back of an antique shop, someone can come along, see something special, clean, re-lead and rejuvenate the piece for a whole new life.
